~ About Us ~
Victims
Against No Fault is an organization founded by two Canadians in June
2007. We hope to accomplish three goals through this website.
1. Educate people about our experience with no-fault insurance.
Whether you live in one of 'our' target provinces (AB, MB) or are simply seeking
general information about no-fault insurance, we hope to provide assistance or
at least point you in the right direction. No-fault insurance is not 100%
bad, evil or wrong. The people who administer the insurance are the
problem. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
2. Create a resource for others to share their experiences, good
and bad. There are good healthcare professionals out
there. We are aware of a few who aren't so wonderful.
Knowing the difference can make a world of difference to your health both
physically and emotionally/spiritually. We want to illuminate the difference.
Short of having weekly group hugs (though we haven't ruled this out) we
hope to facilitate communication amongst other victims, claimants and their
families so that none of us is alone in our battle.
3. Catalyst for Reform. It is time for a
change to the existing no-fault scheme. There is power in numbers.
It is imperative that we speak out and speak loudly. Within this website
you will find links and/or contacts for most every possible person imaginable
(MLA's, Premiers, Ombudsman’s, etc.). It is up to each of us to make the
contact. You may, if you choose, copy us in your correspondence
so that none of it "gets lost" on the desks of bureaucracy. We
want your story. Knowing how no-fault impacts on the daily lives of
others will assist us in our contact with those who have the potential to
instigate change. How has no-fault affected you? Your family? Your
livelihood? Please write to us and share your story.
...a little more
about us.
We both experience the consequences of being in the wrong
place at the wrong time, neither of us was "at fault" in our
respective accidents. One of us lived in Alberta at the time of our accident
(2005) and the other of us lived in Manitoba at the time of our accident (1998).
One accident was catastrophically horrific and the other accident was seemingly
insignificant. Yet both accidents were
ultimately life changing events. Unfortunately, we both continue to
experience symptoms as a result of the injuries we sustained in our respective
MVA's. Both of us are similarly subjected to the dysfunction of no-fault
insurance despite the accidents occuring in different provinces. We
decided that no other person should have to suffer as we are presently suffering
and as a result we have joined forces to create this website. We hope that you
find the information here to be helpful and useful if you happen to have the
misfortune of filing an injury claim under a no-fault system. If
you are fortunate to be injury free and are here out of curiosity (or a
Google-gone-wrong) please give some thoughtful consideration to those of us who
have had our lives devastated, not only by an accident, but by the
subsequent abuse and mistreatment of a no-fault insurance company.
Please stand beside us and speak out for fairness, accountability and
justice for those injured under no-fault. You too may be but one
accident away from having your life altered beyond your wildest nightmare.
If you think you are adequately insured...think again. Both of us
thought that we were covered by insurance only to find out that the insurance
has severe shortcomings. Please take the time to learn more about no-fault
and join us in advocating for change.
